GOD HATES Idol Worship: The Living God of Holiness, Love, Faithfulness, Light, Graciousness, Righteousness, Truth, Goodness, Mercy And Kindness; The Most High God, Creator Of Heaven And Earth, And Humankind; Creator of the Universe; Creator Of The World; God Is The Founder And Owner Of All Things; All Glory And Honor Belongs To Him Upon The Whole Earth!!!
By Lisa Bell-Hanner:
Learning Lessons From The Old Testament Found in the Holy Bible; For Today’s Turbulent Times!!
Idol Worship and Those who Choose to Practice such things are STILL an Offense to The Creator God of the “WORLD!!!”
GOD “HATES” idol worship; both Past and Present!!!
Despite, that God Have Given to Humankind the Freedom to Choose Him or NOT, with Consequences; GOD “HATES” idol worship!!!
Regardless, of the fact, that Many have NOT Chosen to Worship the God of Heaven and Earth; Or to called by His name, as Children of God or by Jesus’ name, as Disciples of Christ.
But, have Chosen to worship idol gods with their Empty Sacrifices; Celebrating with Ceremonies to their idol gods; and to Pagan Shrines…ALL Placed Far ABOVE the TRUE and LIVING GOD of Heaven and Earth!!!
For Even as Free Moral Agents of Choice; GOD STILL “HATES” Their idol Worship Upon the Earth, Yes, ALL Over the WORLD!!!”
The Creator God, HATES” “idol” worship; whether found in Old Testament Biblical Times; Or through New and Modern idols; or A Combination of Old and New; both Past and Present ones!!
God Hates ANY kind of idol gods; and humankind worship of them!!!
There is Great Disdain in the Heart of Almighty God for idols…Again, for Old or New idol gods:
The Old Testament, found in the Word of God…The Holy Bible, is for our Learning as a teaching tool for Present day life for the Saved in Christ Jesus. In order, that we might NOT Repeat history; and NOT learn from the lessons found in His Word; and NOT be Pleasing to the Creator God. Also, Be Careful, NOT to Practice the Same Types of Past Sins and offenses toward God through Christ Jesus; that others have done in the Past!!
Romans 15:4 New King James Version (NKJV)
4 For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.”
Galatians 3:24-25 King James Version (KJV)
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster”
Again, Today, there is much idol worship upon the earth!! Whether, in it’s original forms taken from Old Testament Scriptures; or taken from bites and pieces of these Old Testaments Scriptures; then idol worshipers make new ones; that are equally offensive to God!!
Again, It is True God has Created us as free moral agents, having the ability to choose our worship. But, as His Creation, as humankind; it does not make it LESS offensive when we Choose idols over Him!!!
YES, it is true According to the Will of God; that we all get to Continue to Choose how we worship until the END with CONSEQUENCES; and what we worship with Consequences!!
But God, gets to choose whom He blesses and not bless; and where our Eternity will end up…in Heaven through Christ Jesus, God’s Son; or the Pit, Out of His Sight!! However, the way we Choose to live upon the earth is left up to us with Consequences!! Thus, the Way we die is the way we will end up for an Eternity. Yes, In Essence, We Choose Our Here After; that will Last Forever!!
When idol worship of false gods comes before the All Seeing God; or when the sound of idols being celebrated in ceremonies comes in God’s Hearing; or the Smoke from idol worship offerings; and burnt offering scents comes before God’s Nostrils; or animal sacrifices and such that saddens God’s Heart. It Displeases Him Greatly, as in Times Past!!
Obedience is Better Burnt Offerings and Sacrifices Before the Most High God:
1 Samuel 15:22 King James Version (KJV)
22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams”
Old Testament Biblical Verses and Their Practices; that STILL Are Offensive to All Mighty God; in the Lives of His Children through Jesus Christ, and ALL of Humankind!!
Genesis 9:4-6 English Standard Version (ESV)
4 “But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood”
Psalm 16:4 New King James Version (NKJV)
4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god; Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer,
Nor take up their names on my lips”
Your Name, O Lord, “WILL” Endure Forever:
Psalm 135:5-6,13 New King James Version (NKJV)
“I know that the Lord is great, and our Lord is above all gods”
Whatever the Lord pleases He does, In heaven and in earth,…
Your Name, O Lord, Endures Forever,
Your fame, O Lord, throughout all generations”
Psalm 135:15-18 English Standard Version (ESV)
The Characteristics of False gods:
“The idols of the nations are silver and gold,
the work of human hands.
16 They have mouths, but do not speak;
they have eyes, but do not see;
17 they have ears, but do not hear,
nor is there any breath in their mouths.
18 Those who make them become like them,
so do all who trust in them”
Isaiah 1:12-20 New King James Version (NKJV)
12 “When you come to appear before Me,
Who has required this from your hand,
To trample My courts?
13 Bring no more futile sacrifices;
Incense is an abomination to Me.
The New Moons, the Sabbaths, and the calling of assemblies—
I cannot endure iniquity and the sacred meeting.
14 Your New Moons and your appointed feasts
My soul hates;
They are a trouble to Me,
I am weary of bearing them.
15 When you spread out your hands,
I will hide My eyes from you;
Even though you make many prayers,
I will not hear.
Your hands are full of blood.
16 “Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean;
Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil,
17 Learn to do good;
Rebuke the oppressor;
Defend the fatherless,
Plead for the widow.
18 “Come now, and let us reason together,”
Says the Lord,
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool.
19 If you are willing and obedient,
You shall eat the good of the land;
20 But if you refuse and rebel,
You shall be devoured by the sword”;
For the mouth of the LORD has spoken”
True Worship and False:
Isaiah 66:1-4 New King James Version (NKJV)
Thus says the Lord God:
“Heaven is My throne,
And earth is My footstool.
Where is the house that you will build Me?
And where is the place of My rest?
2 For all those things My hand has made,
And all those things exist,”
Says the Lord.
“But on this one will I look:
On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit,
And who trembles at My word.
3 “He who kills a bull is as if he slays a man;
He who sacrifices a lamb, as if he breaks a dog’s neck;
He who offers a grain offering, as if he offers swine’s blood;
He who burns incense, as if he blesses an idol.
Just as they have chosen their own ways,
And their soul delights in their abominations,
4 So will I choose their delusions,
And bring their fears on them;
Because, when I called, no one answered,
When I spoke they did not hear;
But they did evil before My eyes, And chose that in which I do not delight””
Many suffer needlessly upon the Earth; because of idol gods and idol worship. Negative, results such as famines; droughts, unrest, hunger, attacks, thirst, devastation, calamity, Overtaken and Placed Under the Yolk of Strangers in Their Own Lands; Some Lands in Wretched Condition; Lands Wiped Out, and Even Destroyed!!
But, these circumstances are not exclusive to the lands of idol worshipers; for the whole earth is experiencing “Climate Changes” by the “Climate Maker;” Who Is Creator God, throughout the Entire World; because of Increasing Sin Ever Before God!!
In addition, those who Choose to remain in idol worship Shall One Day be “GO” the Second Death; headed for the Pit; according to God’s Word!!
The Second Death:
Revelation 21:8 New King James Version (NKJV)
8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
Although, God Chooses to rain on the Just and the Unjust; His Blessings are first with those who obey Him through, His Son and Savior Christ Jesus!!
God Does What He Pleases!!!
“…For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust…Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them” (Matthew 5:45 ESV; John 14:23).
Luke 11:28 New King James Version (NKJV) Jesus Said:
28 But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!””
Some Old Testament Biblical Examples
for Our Learning…
of God’s Historical Rejection of idol gods and idol worship!!
Exodus 20:3 English Standard Version (ESV)
The Ten Commandments:
3 “You shall have no other gods before me”
Later, in the Book of Exodus, The Covenant was Renewed with the children of Israel through Moses by God; and goes into greater details about why idols and idol worship is unwise; before the True and Living God!!
Moses Brother Aaron, Makes the Golden Calf:
Exodus 32:1-6 International Standard Version (ESV)
32 When the people saw that Moses took a long time to come down the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and told him, “Come here and make us a god who will go before us, because, as for this fellow Moses who led us out of the land of Egypt, we don’t know what has become of him.”
2 Aaron told them, “Tear off the gold rings which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters and bring them to me.” 3 All the people tore off the gold rings that were in their ears and brought them to him. 4 He took them from them and, using a tool, fashioned them into a molten calf. The people said, “This, Israel, is your god who brought you out of the land of Egypt.”
5 When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of it, and then he proclaimed, “Tomorrow is to be a festival to the Lord.” 6 They got up early the next day and offered burnt offerings and brought peace offerings. Then the people sat down to eat and drink, and then they got up to play”
Moses Destroys the Golden Calf and the Tablets of the Law:
International Standard Version (ESV)
15 Then Moses turned and went down the mountain with the two Tablets of the Testimony in his hand, tablets which were written on both sides. They were written on one side and the other. 16 The tablets were the work of God and the writing was God’s writing, inscribed on the tablets. 17 When Joshua heard the sound of the people as they shouted, he told Moses, “The sound of war is coming from the camp.”
18 Moses said,
“It is not the sound of a victory shout,
but it’s the sound of singing that I hear.”
19 As Moses approached the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, he became angry. He threw the tablets from his hands and shattered them at the base of the mountain.
20 He took the calf that they had made, burned it with fire, and ground it into powder. He scattered it on the water and made the Israelis drink it. 21 Then Moses asked Aaron, “What did this people do to you that you brought such great sin upon them?”
22 Aaron said, “Sir, don’t be angry. You know the people—that they’re intent on evil. 23 They told me, ‘Make a god for us who will go before us because, as for this fellow Moses who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we don’t know what has become of him.’ 24 So I told them, ‘Whoever has gold ornaments, tear them off.’ When they gave it to me, I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf.”
The Descendants of Levi Punish the Guilty Israelis:
International Standard Version (ESV)
25 When Moses saw that the people were out of control—since Aaron had let them get out of control, something that incited ridicule from their enemies — 26 he stood in the gate of the camp and called out: “Whoever is for the Lord come over to me,” and all the sons of Levi gathered around him. 27 He told them, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says, ‘Every man put his sword on his thigh, and go back and forth from gate to gate in the camp, and each of you kill his brother and friend and neighbor.’”
28 The descendants of Levi did just as Moses told them, and about “3,000” people died that day. 29 Moses said, “You have been ordained to serve the Lord today, and you have brought a blessing on yourselves today because every man opposed his son or brother”
There were 3000 people Killed in One Day, because of sin in the Times of Moses. And There were 3,000 people who had their sins forgiven; and Born Again through Jesus Christ’s Sacrifice. It was On the day of Pentecost; when Peter Preached the 1st gospel sermon of Jesus Christ the Lord and Savior; that is, The His Death, His burial, and His Resurrection from death!!
Peter’s Sermon at Pentecost:
Acts 2:38, 40-41 ESV
38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit…40 And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” 41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
Exodus 34:12-17 New King James Version (NKJV)
12 Take heed to yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it be a snare in your midst. 13 But you shall destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and cut down their wooden images 14 (for you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God), 15 lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they play the harlot with their gods and make sacrifice to their gods, and one of them invites you and you eat of his sacrifice, 16 and you take of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters play the harlot with their gods and make your sons play the harlot with their gods.17 “You shall make no molded gods for yourselves”
Blessings for Obedience:
Leviticus 26:1 English Standard Version (ESV)
26 “You shall not make idols for yourselves or erect an image or pillar, and you shall not set up a figured stone in your land to bow down to it, for I am the Lord your God”
We Must become “Even If” or “If Not” Christians and Those Who Claim To Be, But Serve Idol gods TOO…!!
The Fiery Furnace
Daniel 3:8-18 NIV
“At this time some astrologers came forward and denounced the Jews. They said to King Nebuchadnezzar, “May the king live forever! Your Majesty has issued a decree that everyone who hears the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music must fall down and worship the image of gold, and that whoever does not fall down and worship will be thrown into a blazing furnace. But there are some Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon-Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego-who pay no attention to you, Your Majesty. They neither serve your gods nor worship the image of gold you have set up.” Furious with rage, Nebuchadnezzar summoned Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. So these men were brought before the king, and Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the image of gold I have set up? Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music, if you are ready to fall down and worship the image I made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?” Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver usfrom Your Majesty’s hand. But “Even If” he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up”
Psalm 95:6-11 New King James Version (NKJV)
The Lord God Has Said:
“Oh come, let us worship and bow down;
let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!
7 For he is our God,
and we are the people of his pasture,
and the sheep of his hand.
Today, if you hear his voice,
8 do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah,
as on the day at Massah in the wilderness,
9 when your fathers put me to the test
and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work.
10 For forty years I loathed that generation
and said, “They are a people who go astray in their heart,
and they have not known my ways.”
11 Therefore I swore in my wrath,
“They shall not enter my rest.””
Apostle Paul Said In the New Testament in the Holy Bible…
Warning Against Idolatry:
1 Corinthians 10:1-22 English Standard Version (ESV)
10 “For I do not want you to be unaware, brothers,that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, 2 and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 and all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ. 5 Nevertheless, with most of them God was not pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
6 Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did. 7 Do not be idolaters as some of them were; as it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.” 8 We must not indulge in sexual immorality as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day. 9 We must not put Christ to the test, as some of them did and were destroyed by serpents, 10 nor grumble, as some of them did and were destroyed by the Destroyer. 11 Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come. 12 Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall. 13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
14 Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry. 15 I speak as to sensible people; judge for yourselves what I say. 16 The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? 17 Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread. 18 Consider the people of Israel: are not those who eat the sacrifices participants in the altar? 19 What do I imply then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything? 20 No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be participants with demons. 21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons. 22 Shall we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?”
All People that Fear the Presence of God and Death; Is Resolved Through the Blood of Jesus Christ:
1 John 1:7 New King James Version (NKJV)
7 “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin”
1 John 5:21 English Standard Version (ESV)
21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols”
Psalm 46:10 New International Version (NKJV)
10 “Be still, and know that I am God;
I “WILL” be exalted among the nations,
I WILL be exalted in the earth!”
Matthew 24:35 English Standard Version (ESV)
35 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away”
Matthew 22:37-40 New King James Version (NKJV)
Love the Lord Your God, And Not Idols:
37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
All Glory Belongs to God and The Lamb, Jesus Christ, Who Are In Heaven:
13 And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:
“Blessing and honor and glory and power
Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!”
“Blessed Be The
“Everlasting to Everlasting”
“Amen and Amen”
For It Is, The Lord, Savior, and King Jesus;
Who Shall Reign Forever
